A customer in the fish and animal feeds industry asked us to supply a filter for their pneumatic premix system with pressurised transport.
The challenge
As the customer’s plant processes up to 20 tons of material per hour, the solution needed to handle unlimited amounts of dust.
The premix product is an organic, carbonaceous material and potentially explosive. Therefore we needed to take the ATEX Directive (which covers equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres) into consideration.
We selected a SimPact 4T-R filter, construction form 17 – a pressure-shock resistance (PSR) total filter.
The value
We designed a solution that combines radial filter intake and correct filter dimensioning with low upstream velocity. This reduces the risk of product build-up in the filter. The system also complies with the ATEX Directive, ensuring protection against explosion.
We added an integrated fan to ensure negative pressure was maintained in the filter to ensure the product keeps flowing, minimising costly downtime.
